Africa has over the years been known as a haven for tourists all over the world. It is no doubt that the African continent has so much to offer in terms of cultural experiences, wildlife and a serene rejuvenating hideout for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Several countries in Africa have realised the importance of tourism to their economies and they have therefore moulded their tourism sector to accommodate visitors from across the world. One such country is South Africa. It has for a long time taken the spotlight as one of the best tourist destinations in Africa.

One of the attractions in South Africa is most definitely its rich history dating back to the Apartheid era. Many visitors are attracted by this history as they seek to learn about the past of this most economically stable nation in Africa. This past history has been documented in museums across the country. The famous one time prison cell of former president Nelson Mandela at Robben Island is a great attraction.

Besides the history, South Africa is also extremely rich in wildlife. It boasts of a great number of parks across the nation. South Africa is well prepared for its visitors having the most classy five-star hotels for visitors to live in when on tour. Other visitors also have the option of camping out in the game parks with maximum security guaranteed. There are cottages too around the country that visitors can rent for a more traditional experience.

 Tourists can go on game drives to some of the prominent attraction areas that include the Kruger Park and the Sabi Sands Game Reserve which is the most exclusive private reserve in South Africa. Other top ten reserves include the Madikwe Game Reserve in the North West, the Shamwari on the Eastern Cape, the Mapungubwe National Park and the Greater St. Lucia Westlands Park among others.

On the other hand, Kenya has also topped the world charts as one of the richest tourist destinations. Kenya is particularly famous for the Maasai culture, a concept that has been embraced the world over. The Maasai culture is very appealing to tourists coming to Kenya who are always eager to explore the Maasai land in the Rift Valley. The visitors are intrigued by the young warriors who jump so high during the famous Maasai dance as well as the way this community interacts with wild animals in their natural habitat.

The Kenyan wildlife is another thrilling encounter that tourists to this country are always looking forward to. One these attractions is most definitely the Maasai Mara Game Reserve that is now an international acclamation because of the wildebeest migration in thousands to and from Kenyan to Tanzania’s Serengeti Reserve in the month of August. This has come to pull massive tourists to Kenya including the international media eager to go back to their countries and share this marvel with their people.  

The Maasai Mara is also home to the big five wild animals that include the elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and the buffalo. The beauty of the Mara is that visitors are able to navigate easily through the open plains of the game reserve to view wildlife in its natural habitat.

Kenya is also home to a good number of national parks located across the country while the Kenyan coast is another famous tourist destination with its sunny beaches and five-star hotels.

Zimbabwe is the other African country which is quite famous for its wildlife, among a few other countries that include Tanzania, Egypt-rich in ancient history and Morocco.
